The FLUX Sustainability in Fashion Event & Exhibition

Join us on May 28th for the FLUX Sustainability in Fashion Event and Exhibition! This event will be held in ‘The Bank’ on James’s Street – The Digital Hub’s brand new event space.

This event will be hosted by FLUX studio member and slow fashion designer Sharon Sweeney Design. Sharon will open the event with a visual presentation highlighting the effects of fast fashion on the environment.

We are delighted to have Fionnuala Jay, podcaster, writer and content creator as a special guest. Sharon, who co-hosts ‘The Breakup Dress’ podcast, will interview Fionnuala live on stage & discuss Fionnuala’s journey from giving up fast fashion in 2020. They will discuss the process of trying to be a sustainable consumer of fashion, the challenges it presents and some tips and advice they’ve picked up along the way.

To finish off the event we will have a variety of short 5-minute talks from advocates of sustainability in fashion including Aine Hennessy (Henny Penny Vintage) , We Love Markets, Alison Byrne (Wildbird Studio)

& more.

This event will take place on Sunday 28th May from 1pm-2pm.

Tickets are €5 (+ booking fee) each, and this entry fee will act as a €5 voucher to spend with selected vendors @ the We Love Markets flea market at The Digital Hub which will be taking place next door on the day! Voucher valid for selected vintage vendors and on the May 28th market only.

In the surrounding gallery space there will also be an exhibition of outfits, jewellery and accessories representing many designers, makers, vintage shops and organisations all flying the flag for sustainability in fashion. This exhibition will be open to the public (no booking required) from Sunday May 28th 3-5pm and then daily from May 29th - June 2nd, 12-5pm

The annual Culture Date with Dublin 8 festival is taking place this year across the weekend of Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May, and we're delighted to be taking part!

We are hosting a showcase exhibition of some of our members' best work, featuring artworks, crafts, fashion and more.  As well as marking the opening event of the Digital Hub's exciting new multi-purpose space - a former bank building on James' street - we are also using the event to relaunch our organisation with a new look!  FLUX is the new name for BLOCK T, so this show will be a celebration of where we're at and where we wanna go :)

The exhibition opening night is Friday May 12th, and there will be 3 x 1 hour slots available to book for free online via the button below.  The slots are 6pm - 7pm / 7pm - 8pm / 8pm - 9pm.  The exhibition will stay open until Friday May 19, from 12pm - 5pm each day (no booking required)

Culture Date with Dublin 8 celebrates the cultural, historical and architectural heritage of the area, and invites you to be a tourist in your own city, to explore your neighbourhood and discover all the hidden gems that are right on your doorstep.
