Block T Skillsets Presents a four week observational oil painting course for beginners with the award winning artist Nicholas Robinson. This will be a practical course in oil painting from life, introducing the most basic principles of observation, materials and oil painting – all presented in a simple step by step manner.

The course involves working on one new painting each week in a series of exercises designed to present the fundamental concepts of oil painting. Each exercise involves painting from life to understand how to describe light, form, space and simple colour on the canvas to create a realistic effect. This course is ideal for both beginners and also more experienced painters who want to do a refresher on the most important basics of painting in oils.

About the Tutor: Nicholas Robinson attended the Florence Academy of Art, Sweden, under the tutelage of the Swedish painter Joakim Ericsson - winning 2 awards during his time here. Recently short-listed for the Hennessy Portrait prize, and the Zurich Portrait prize, Nick is now exhibiting nationally, and works and teaches out of his studio in Wicklow. Website | Twitter | Facebook
