Landscapes in Watercolour - 1-Day Workshop // with artist Anne McLeod // Sunday September 20th //

10:30 - 17:00

"Technically exacting watercolourist Anne McLeod is known for her landscape, plant, floral, and animal studies. Beyond her sound sense of colour, her watercolour compositions are complex arragements of light and shade, tonal schemes in which the white of the paper is saved for "the cleanest highlights", requiring great forethought and precision."

- Aidan Dunne, The Irish Times

We are delighted to invite the artist Anne McLeod back to BLOCK T Studios to teach with us in this exciting 1-day workshop. This is a watercolour workshop for all-comers, beginners as well as those with some experience in the medium who want to improve their skillset.

Students will paint a stage-by-stage watercolour of a simple but striking scene of a beach with mountains behind, using this to practise several essential techniques applicable to many landscape subjects.

As usual, Anne will demonstrate all the stages, so the workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience of watercolours.

COURSE FEE: €90

200 lb paper and most materials provided. Students will need:

2 watercolour brushes, No 6 & No 10

** Places will be strictly limited in accordance with the latest health & safety advice from the government and HSE. Students will be sat 2 metres apart, and will be required to wear a mask for the duration of the class **

Artist Bio:

Anne McLeod grew up in the English Lake District but has lived mostly in rural Ireland, first in Co Limerick, and since 1991 in Co Wexford. Self-taught as an artist, she found her own way with watercolours, discovering for herself its many techniques and thereby creating an individual style and approach. She began painting professionally 30 years ago in Australia where the extraordinary effects of light and shade stirred a painterly instinct in her. She is inspired by a love of her Irish home, with its hills and lanes, its flowers, and its farm animals.

Anne McLeod was elected to the Watercolour Society of Ireland in 2000, receiving their Dart Award and O’Sullivan Graphics Award at subsequent exhibitions. She exhibits extensively nationwide and her work is in many public and corporate collections.
