In this one day introduction to hand drawn lettering, we will look at the basics of lettering design. We will do a series of fun exercises to explore serifs and sans serifs, drop shadows and drop caps, flourishes and motif.

We will finish off the day by putting our exercises into practice, and we will make a finished piece with wording of our choice.

​

Suitable for folk with *some* background in art & design (be that kindergarten, junior cert or third level, doesn’t really matter as long as you’re keen, and can hold a pencil!)

Signpainting Basics // 1 day workshop with illustrator Holly Pereira // Sunday Feb 9th // 10:00 - 16:00 // €95

In this one day workshop, we will explore the (very basic) basics of signpainting. From what kind of brushes to use, how to mix the paint, how to transfer the letters onto the paper/board, and how to hold the brush.

Suitable for absolute (but keen) beginners!

Each day = €95, do both for €175

Holly is an illustrator & muralist based in Dublin, Ireland. She specialises in illustrated type & lettering design, and she also designs and hand paints murals. Holly has a B.A. in Fine Art (NCAD, 2004), and a HND in animation (BCFE, 2015). She has worked with a wide range of clients, from large companies to one person enterprises. She loves making bright and vibrant environments that augment our relationship to the street and to each other!
