Pottery 4 Day Summer Camp with KaroArt @ BLOCK T

August Bank Holiday Sun 1st - Wed 4th Aug

(Sun-Tuesday 10-5pm with 1 hrs lunch break, Wed 10-2pm no break)

BLOCK T is delighted to invite ceramicist Karolina Grudniewska (KaroArt) into the studios to teach this exciting 4 day pottery summer camp! This intense 4 day clay experience will cover two main hand building techniques – slab building and coiling as well as introduce some surface decoration techniques using coloured slips.

The course is suitable for total beginners and also those looking to improve and practice their skills in ceramic hand building. While all tools, materials, and aprons are provided, it is a good idea to research and collect some images of ceramics you like and might want to make during the course. This course is suitable for adults aged 16 and over.

On day 1, we will start with a presentation of hand building methods followed by guided exercise in making clay vessels.

Day 2 will introduce surface decoration techniques and we will be practicing those on flat pieces – plates or tiles.

On day 3 and 4, students will have freedom to produce their own work combining techniques they learned on previous days. The tutor will provide design guidance, support and assistance, keeping an eye on work in progress.

Each participant will be able to complete a minimum of 4 and up to 8 pieces during the course duration. All work will then be fired and glazed and ready for collection from BLOCK T Studios within approx. 4 weeks.

We kindly ask that you arrive on time, especially on day 1 and 2 of the course as they start with presentations. Please also note there will be two friendly dogs assisting in the class on some of the days :)

COURSE FEE: €375 (A €200 deposit via Eventbrite secures your place, with the balance due on day 1)

Please Note: These classes will take place in our new building at 25-27 Bow Lane West, Dublin 8. The classroom is spacious with good ventilation, & all COVID safety protocols must be adhered to throughout the class.. Each participant must wear a mask throughout, and all work stations will be spaced apart. Each participant must sign a contact tracing form on arrival.
