FUEL was launched in BLOCK T September 2013 and is a vital part of BLOCK T's Visual Arts Programme.
Hundreds of students graduate from art colleges and creative courses every year in Ireland. After graduation, they find themselves wanting to continue their artistic practice, but suddenly not having the same support structures as they had in their institutional environment. For example, access to equipment, studio space, tutorials, group discussion and critiques become a much more difficult process. Many graduates find themselves making tough decisions, such as maintaining a balance between financial security and time to devote to their artistic practice. As several of BLOCK T's co-founders come from an artistic background, and met in art college, we understand the value of a platform for emerging artists. FUEL aims to provide some of these necessary supports and structures for recent graduates of the creative industries.
